Footwear group Clarks has announced Thomas O’Neill as its new chairman with effect from December 6. Mr O’Neill, who previously served as a non-executive member of the board, will replace Peter Davies in the role.

Mr O’Neill was previously chief executive of jewellery retailer Harry Winston in New York, and president of the Harry Winston Diamond Corporation from 2004 to 2010. Prior to this he held the position of worldwide president for luxury brand Burberry between 2001 and 2004. He has also held senior roles at LVMH, Marc Jacobs and Tiffany & Co.

Clarks chief executive, Melissa Potter, said at the time of the announcement: “We are delighted to appoint Thomas to the role of chairman. His extensive experience working with global retail brands in the US, Europe and Asia combined with his in-depth knowledge of the Clarks business make him a natural choice.”
