Since the start of this century, Hermès has increased the number of people it employs in its leathergoods division by more than 250%.

In recent comments to the media, executive vice-president Guillaume de Seynes said that at the start of the twenty-first century, Hermès had 700 people involved in making its luxury leathergoods. The figure today is 2,500 people.

Mr de Seynes said leathergoods was still the company’s most important segment, accounting for 47% of a turnover that reached almost EUR 3.5 billion in 2012.
