Natuzzi CEO has faith in turnaround despite sales dip

Italian leather furniture maker Natuzzi has reported that sales declined to EUR 328.1 million for the first nine months of the year, compared with €342.3 million in the same period last year, but that the company is on track for a turnaround.

CEO Pasquale Natuzzi said: “The results are still affected by factors that do not let us benefit from our huge efforts we have made in the creation of solid basis for the future.

“New market opportunities have been identified, and, through the development of new Natuzzi Italia branded collections, we have captured the consumers’ needs in terms of price and style. Such collections were already available within all points of sales since September and are bringing positive results, especially in those Western Europe markets that are particularly hit by the current crisis in consumption.”

During the third quarter, four Natuzzi Italia stores were opened.

“We believe we have taken the right decisions for the future of our company and created the conditions for a turnaround starting from next year,” added Mr Natuzzi.

In July, the company announced it was cutting 1,700 jobs in Italy.
