Minerva director predicts bright future for Paraguay

The head of business intelligence for Brazilian packer and tanning group Minerva, Fabiano Tito Rosa, has said Brazil is now the best producer of beef in the world, but that neighbouring Paraguay also has a bright future in beef.

In the build-up to BeefSummit Brasil, an industry event in December, Mr Tito said: “Brazil stands out. We still have challenges, such as improving our infrastructure and, especially, improving the relationships between packers and livestock farmers, but you only have to look at the figures for herd size, beef production, exports and so on to see that Brazil is performing very well.”

Apart from Brazil, he said he believes Paraguay has a very promising future ahead as a producer of cattle and beef. “It has the right conditions,” he said of the neighbouring country, “as we do here. But costs are lower in Paraguay, especially labour and energy costs.”
