Argentina: highest slaughter in almost four years

20/11/2013
Argentina has confirmed its slaughter figures for October. With 1.2 million head of cattle going through the country’s abattoirs in the course of the month, Argentina registered the highest slaughter figure it has had for almost four years.

Its figures for the first ten months of 2013 are 12% up on the numbers for the same period on 2012.

A more negative detail is that cows made up more than 43% of the total slaughter in October 2013, causing commentators to wonder about the effects of the high slaughter figure on the country’s herd size in 2014.
