Sustainability is a balancing act, says Clariant

Oliver Kinkel, head of leather services at Clariant, said: “It’s an ongoing process to reconcile the demands of the environment, social responsibility and economics; it’s a balancing act but we don’t compromise. We work continuously to enhance the recycling and reuse of leather chemicals back into the manufacturing process.”
The company says its goal is to design products inspired by bio-based raw materials and developed to replace critical materials. Ralph Blach, head of marketing and application development, said: “As a major chemical producer, it may seem ironic but we actively try to reduce chemical demand in the solutions we provide to our customers.”
