Huge jump in leather exports from Paraguay

23/09/2013
Official figures from Paraguay show that exports of hides and skins (at all stages of production) in the first eight months of 2013 were almost 80% higher than for the whole of 2012.

Between January and August this year, Paraguayan tanners and traders exported almost 90,000 tonnes of hides. The figure for the whole of 2012 was just under 50,000 tonnes.

Newly formed tanneries in Paraguay, run by Cencoprod in the Chaco region and by Grupo Concepción in the north of the country have almost doubled Paraguay’s hide-processing capacity.
