A goat farmer in the northern Brazilian state of Ceará, André Medeiros, has paid tribute to the state authorities for distributing 2,800 head of goat among 140 small-scale farmers in the area around the town of Quixadá.

In addition, Mr Medeiros said the state had put support in place to help farmers solve any technical problems and had set up a programme for buying milk at a guaranteed price. “There has never been a better time to raise goats,” he said.
