GDS to take place much earlier

Organisers of the GDS footwear and leathergoods fair in Du¨sseldorf have announced that they will bring the dates of the event forward.

From 2014, the second edition of the twice-yearly exhibition will take place in July rather than September. Traditionally, footwear brands use the September shows to present their collections for the following year’s spring-summer season to buyers.

From 2015, the first edition of GDS will take place in early February instead of mid-March. Traditionally, shoes for the following autumn-winter season are on show at the March events.

“GDS will become the kick-off trade fair for shoes and accessories,” the organisers, Messe Du¨sseldorf, said in a statement.
