JBS acquisition approved: capacity up to 100,000 hides per day

Brazil’s anti-trust authority, CADE, has approved JBS’s acquisition of rival meat company Seara Brasil.

The deal will mean JBS will take ownership of 32 Seara production units and 21 distribution centres. It said the plants would start running under JBS ownership from September 30.

“The acquisition of Seara represents an important increase in the company’s production capacity for poultry, pork, hides and processed food,” JBS said in a statement on September 12. “With the new production sites, JBS’s global production capacity will increase to 100,000 hides per day.”
