Chemicals group Lanxess took the opportunity to officially launch its new beamhouse technology at the recent All China Leather Exhibition in Shanghai.

Peltec uses an enzymatic process developed in partnership with Novozymes and uses two microbially produced enzymes in soaking and liming which the company says can considerably increase the quality of the hides, reduce the amount of waste and significantly improve the efficiency of the process.

A detailed report on the technology is available in the latest edition of World Leather magazine, which is also available to download from as an ezine from this site.
