Crocodiles escape from farm after flood

Reports from China say crocodiles managed to break free from a farm in Shantou in Guangdong province after flood waters triggered by Typhoon Utor caused the walls of a breeding farm to collapse.

"The water level rose very quickly, and the flow of torrential water destroyed the wall," said the farm’s owner.

Most were recovered by teams of local farmers and emergency workers while authorities continue to hunt for the remaining animals. Two people were reportedly bitten.

According to People's Daily Online, there are about 11,000 crocodiles contained in the 11-hectare farm.
