Financial help available for Northampton leather students

15/08/2013
The University of Northampton has issued an announcement alerting prospective students for next academic year to a range of scholarships and bursaries available to help provide higher education opportunities to all.

Some of the financial awards available are specifically for students in the university’s Institute for Creative Leather Technologies. The financial awards aim to help support students through their course, allowing them the opportunity to focus on their studies by alleviating the financial pressures associated with the cost of living, learning resources and accommodation costs.

Different awards have different eligibility criteria and it’s important for prospective applicants to read these carefully before applying. More information is available at the link provided.

Awards aimed specifically at new-generation leather industry professionals include the Leathersellers Company Scholarship, valued at between £500 and £3,000, the Trumpler Award (for EUR 1,000), the Micro- Pak Scholarship (£3,000) and the The Union Specialties Scholarship, whose value varies.

There is also a Cordwainers Scholarship valued at between £1,000 and £1,500 for a student on the university’s footwear course.

The university’s vice-chancellor, Nick Petford, has spoken frequently in recent years about the University of Northampton’s proud record in equipping its graduates for the world of work, with the Institute for Creative Leather Technologies winning a particular mention for its 100% record in producing students who find jobs quickly.
