Big increases again for Brazilian hide exports in July

Exports of hides and skins from Brazil for the month of July 2013 had a value if $197.9 million. Tanners and hide traders exported a total of 2.5 million pieces.

These figures represent increases of 23.1% in value and of 21.9% in volume compared to the same month in 2012.

Finished hides accounted for 56.9% of the total by value and for 45.2% by volume. Exports of crust represented 6.5% of the total value and 6.8% of the volume. Wet blue accounted for 30% of the value but was the greatest contributor to volume with 47.4%. The statistics attribute 6.3% of the total value to split but do not give a figure for split volumes. Fresh salted hides made up the difference with 0.3% of value and 0.6% of volume.
