Colombian shoe firm to open second tannery

08/08/2013
A Colombian footwear and accessories brand, Bosi, is preparing to open a second tannery to help it rely less on imported leather for its production.

Bosi already has a tannery in the town of Copacabana in the province of Antioquía, but increased demand for locally produced leather in its shoes has led it to move forward with plans for a second tannery in the city of Armenia. It is preparing to start operations there in September. Bosi will create 70 new jobs in Armenia when the tannery opens.

Medellín-based Bosi was launched in 1975. It currently has stores in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Costa Rica and the US.
