Mercedes to build new factory in Brazil

Media in Germany have reported that Daimler-Chrysler will build a new factory in Brazil to make cars for its Mercedes brand.

News magazine Der Spiegel has said the automotive group is concerned about high import taxes being imposed on luxury motors brought into Brazil from overseas. Making the cars in Brazil will allow it to by-pass the problem.

The magazine said the new Brazilian factory will be ready by 2015 and will focus on the Mercedes C Class of vehicles.
