Following on from cases all round the world of counterfeit luxury leathergoods, police in Valencia have raided a small factory that was producing false Ferraris.

Reports from Spain say the authorities uncovered a workshop near Valencia in which eight talented craftsmen were making false vehicles in the style of various Ferrari models. They confiscated 19 vehicles in total, 17 false Ferraris and two ersatz Aston Martins.

The scam consisted of constructing the counterfeit cars and selling them on the internet for a fraction of their normal price, although still for large amounts of money. For example, the owners of the workshop sold a car for EUR 40,000, claiming it was a Ferrari model worth EUR 200,000.
