New leather industrial zone near Lima

01/08/2013
Peru’s minister for production, Gladys Triveño, has said the government will set up a new industrial zone for leather and leathergoods manufacturers in the Rímac district of Lima.

In recent comments on the subject in Peruvian media, the minister said: “We want to have more of these specialised industrial zones. It’s clear that the needs of the tanning industry, in terms of waste management, are not the same as the needs of, say, the food industry. So we don’t want companies from those sectors sharing the same space.”
