Double-digit growth in tourism spend on leathergoods

25/07/2013
Globally, tourists spending on leathergoods increased 12% in the second quarter compared with the same period last year, according to data from shopping group Global Blue.

Overall spending by Chinese tourists rose 22% against 20% in the first quarter, while Russians spent 16% more, compared with 17% growth in the first quarter.

Spending in Europe grew 15%, up from 11% in the first three months of the year.

"Global Blue provides some optimism that tourism spend picked up modestly in the period," said analysts at lender Barclays.
