Large leathergoods sales boost Burberry

10/07/2013
Luxury brand Burberry has announced strong results for the first quarter of its business year.

Retail revenue for the three-month period, ending June 30, was £339 million, an increase of 18% on the same quarter last year. Like-for-like store sales were 13% higher.

Chief executive, Angela Ahrendts, said on announcing the results: “We are pleased. Spring-summer 2013 was a standout season, driven by innovative marketing, cohesive monthly fashion groups and exceptional execution from all corporate and regional teams.”

Along with outerwear, sales of large leathergoods contributed more than half the growth.
