Specialty chemicals manufacturing companies ALPA from Italy and Shafi Reso-Chem from Pakistan held a celebration in Karachi at the start of July to mark ten years of working together.

At the event, they announced that they have agreed to expand the range of leather chemicals they work on together, particularly with a view to supplying tanners in Pakistan who specialise in garment leather.

Shafi Reso-Chem told leatherbiz at the event that it has already invested $10 million in its production of leather chemicals in Pakistan. It has a capacity of 15,000 tonnes of chemicals per year and its product range for leather includes chrome salts, dyestuffs, adhesives, biocides, wetting agents, degreasing agents and bating agents.

It has export customers in Iran, Africa, the Middle East and Italy.
