Swiss chemicals maker Clariant has said it expects sales from products under development to reach more than $1.06 billion in the next four years.

It added that while economic conditions were expected to remain difficult, it has a solid financial basis to execute its growth strategy.

"The innovation pipeline is constantly growing and currently has a sales potential of more than 1 billion Swiss francs by 2017," said chief executive Hariolf Kottmann.

The company, which is looking to sell its leather chemicals division, in April reported first-quarter profit had more than doubled.
