A firefighter has been killed after a wall fell on him while he was tackling a fire in a Bangladeshi footwear factory, according to local reports.

Fire broke out at Papella Shoes in Chittagong on Sunday night, and stocks of leather and processing chemicals inside the factory made it difficult to control, reported the Dhaka Tribune.

Around 14 vehicles of three fire service units brought the blaze under control after six hours; 150,000 pairs of shoes were reported to have been destroyed.
