UK tannery chosen for sporty Cole Haan collection

Chicago-based footwear brand Cole Haan is today launching a new line of footwear, made with leather from a British tannery.

Leeds-based Charles F. Stead is a suede specialist but has supplied a glossy umbranil leather for the uppers of the LunarGrand Long Wing Summer 2013 collection.

The shoes combine a formal brogue look with a sporty outline, featuring Nike Lunarlon soles in contrasting colours.

They will debut at Cole Haan’s flagship New York store and will be available online from July.

Nike sold the leathergoods and footwear group to private equity firm Apax Partners in November.
