Finished leather performs well in Pakistan export figures

During April the value of finished leather exports was $54.6 million, while leathergoods achieved a value of $41.9 million and footwear $5.5 million.
The figure for finished leather represents an increase of 8%, but declines of 14% for leathergoods and almost 36% for leather shoes bring the overall figure down.
For the first ten months of the current financial year (July 2012 to April 2013), the sectors exports are up in value by 6% compared to the same period in the previous financial year, reaching $935.3 million.
In terms of volume, tanners exported 21.7 million square-metres of finished leather over the ten-month period, achieving export earnings of $389.4 million. These figures represent an increase compared to the same period in the previous financial year of 5.7% in volume and 8.8% in value.
