Full fiscal year figures show 2.5% growth for India’s leather exports

India’s Council for Leather Exports (CLE) has reported that the industry earned just short of $5 billion in leather-sector exports in the last financial year, April 2012-March 2013.

This figure represents growth of 2.5% compared to the previous financial, but CLE said that calculations based only on local currency suggested growth of 16.4%.

There was growth of 6.4% in exports of finished leather and of 8.2% in exports of leathergoods.
