UK-headquartered tanning group Pittards sponsored the Africa Jubilee Business Forum which took in London this week to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Organisation of African Unity, the precursor of the African Union.

Pittards' trading partnership with Ethiopia started in the early 1900s and it has been manufacturing leather there since 2005. It said the relationship is “growing stronger each day”.

The forum allowed Pittards to present some of its Ethiopia-made leather and leathergoods to the deputy prime minister of the UK, Nick Clegg, and the minister of foreign affairs for Ethiopia, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

The event was attended by senior members of the UK government, ambassadors, ministers from all African regions, representatives of the African Union and pan-African institutions as well as business leaders.
