Cartino Gelatin, part of the Taveesin tannery in Thailand, has launched its own range of products made from collagen to take advantage of the country’s growing demand for healthcare products.

It was set up in 2000 by the Taveechokesupsin family, who have been in the tannery trade for five decades and wanted to add value to the business.

The Bangkok Post reported that demand is rising as more people choose take supplements, become more health conscious and go under the knife for cosmetic surgery.

It reported the company will spend $1.7 million to install specialised machines at its factory in Samut Prakan. The collagen product market in Thailand is quoted as being worth $67 million a year.
