CICB hails record month for Brazilian hide exports

Brazil’s leather industry association, CICB, has recorded the highest ever monthly total value for exports of hides and skins from the South American country in April 2013. Its figures come from preliminary data released by the department of overseas trade.

In the course of the month, overseas buyers spent $217 million on Brazilian hides and skins, which represents growth of 23.8% on the same month in 2012 and constitutes a new monthly record.

For the first four months of this year, hide exports have brought in $762.2 million, an increase of 19.2% on the same period in 2012.
