Leathergoods sales up again at Hermes

22/04/2013
French leathergoods company Hermes has reported a 10.3% rise in first-quarter revenues, driven by increased sales in Asia and the US.

Revenues for the three months ended 31 March 2013 totalled €856.8 million.

Sales in Asia excluding Japan were up 17% and up 7% in Japan, where the company said the environment has become more positive. In the Americas, sales rose 11%, and in Europe, 12%, “despite a very high basis of comparison and a dull economic climate”.

Leathergoods and saddlery registered an increase of 7%. With the build-up of the two workshops opened in 2012, the sector's production capacity will increase steadily over 2013.

It said for the coming year, it will “continue to follow its strategy based on creativity, maintaining control over its know-how, expanding its distribution network, strengthening its production capacity and safeguarding its sources of supply”.
