15/04/2013
The International Council of Tanners (ICT) held its annual meeting in Hong Kong in March.

Members unanimously confirmed that Wolfgang Goerlich, ICT president since 2010, should complete his second full two-year term, which is due to be completed in March 2014.

Rino Mastrotto was formally appointed as vice-president of the ICT, and is due to take over as president for the period from March 2014 until 2016. Richard Pai was confirmed as second vice-president and is scheduled to be president from 2016 to 2018.

The council also agreed that, following the success of the first World Leather Congress held in Rio de Janeiro in November 2011, a second World Leather Congress should be held in Italy in the autumn of 2014. Further details will follow shortly.

During the council meeting, which was attended by 24 delegates and guests from 13 countries, the members also received presentations on the two important topics: further development of the methodology for calculating the carbon footprint for leather, and the current state of evolution of the African leather industry.
