Three more tanneries on LWG podium

Three more tanneries have passed the protocol of the Leather Working Group, the multi-stakeholder group that assesses the environmental performance of tanneries and awards gold, silver and bronze status to those achieving the best results.

Shoeberry, based in Vaniyambadi,India, is focused on the footwear industry, with affiliated factories that export to the US, Europe and Asia. It produces 2.4 million shoes uppers per year, 50,000 pairs of leather shoes and 6 million square foot of finished leather per year. It achieved a gold rating.

Kuo Yuen Tannery in China also achieved a gold award. It produces 70 million sq ft of leather per year, and supplies PU-coated cowhide split to Nike, adidas, New Balance and Reebok.

Ding Feng Leather, based in Jiang-Men City, China, achieved a bronze award.
