Italian shoe brand takes a shine to Ethiopia

Reports from Ethiopia say Italian footwear company Consorzio Toscana is planning to source £5 million of leather products from Ethiopian manufacturers.

“They indicated to us that they liked our products and would like to work with us,” the manager of New Wing Addis Shoe Factory told local media.

Toscana took part in a forum at the 6th All Africa Leather Fair in February, expressing its interest in contributing to the development of the Ethiopian leather industry and establishing partnerships with local manufacturers.

It is currently carrying out inspections at eight companies producing leather and garment products.
