Brazilian tannery CBC Couros e Acabamentos underwent audit recently against the protocol of the Leather Working Group, the multi-stakeholder group that assesses the environmental performance of tanneries and awards gold, silver and bronze status to those achieving the best results

The Nuovo Hamburgo-based tannery was awarded a silver.

It is located in the town of Nuovo Hamburgo in a 10,000 m²  facility. The company says it prides itself on causing minimal impact to the environment and claims to have one of the best records of wastewater treatment in the region.
