January fall in export values for Pakistani leather sector

Pakistan’s leather-sector exports in the month of January 2013 fell by 6.1% compared to the previous month, December 2012. The January total was $88.2 million.

Finished leather exports were worth $31.5 million in the first month of this calendar year, leathergoods brought in $45.6 million in exports and leather footwear $11.1 million.

The figure for footwear represents a dramatic rise, 20% compared to December 2012. However, finished leather exports were down by 14%.
