China exported 10 billion pairs of shoes in 2012

The China Leather Industry Association has reported that footwear manufacturers in the country exported 10 billion pairs of shoes in 2012.

This represents an increase in volume of 2%. In value terms, footwear exports brought in revenues of $44.4 billion in 2012, an increase of 12.7% compared to 2011.

Footwear imports increased by 21.5% in volume to 50.3 million pairs and by 8.1% in value to $1.5 billion.

In terms of the average price per pair, exported shoes had a value of $4.44, while imported shoes had an average price of $29.82, 6.7 times higher.
