Andrew Muirhead chosen for prestigious London hotel commission

UK-based leather company Andrew Muirhead has been selected to supply to InterContinental London Westminster, a new hotel, bar and restaurant near parliament in London.

The company is part of the Scottish Leather Group, which classifies its leather as “low carbon” because the group has been running its own thermal energy plant at its Bridge of Weir wet-end tannery since 2010, taking what was previously waste sent straight to landfill and converting it into energy for heating the recycled water required in the manufacturing process.

Interior designers RPW Design specified leather from Muirhead’s premium Sateen range, in a mink colour, which features on desks and chairs in all guest rooms.

The two companies worked together last year on a project on board the luxury cruise liner Saga Sahpphire.

Jan Wilson, managing director at RPW, commented: “The quality, colour and finish of the leather at the InterContinental London Westminster is outstanding and another project we are very proud of."

Muirhead sales director Archie Browning added: “It is a fine hotel and our leather brings out the luxury and quality finish of the rooms.”
