UNIDO to help establish $820,000 leather centre in Nigeria

The United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) has signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a shoe manufacturing and leathergoods production and training centre in the Asaba region of Nigeria.

Local reports say the centre will be spread across 2.6 hectares of land will provide at least 2,000 jobs.

The Delta State governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, said land has been made available and $820,000 funding has been provided. He added that the centre will create employment opportunities for the country’s youth.

No time frame was provided for the completion of the project.
