Egypt’s ministry for industry and overseas trade has reported a substantial increase in non-petroleum exports for the first month of 2013, with leather among the sectors to make a noteworthy contribution.

Official figures from the ministry put the total for non-petroleum exports for January at almost $1.7 billion, an increase of 9.5% on the same month last year.

Leather and footwear, along with furniture and food, were among the sectors the ministry highlighted as having performed particularly well.
