Argentinean president, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, was an official guest at the formal opening of a new plant opened by packer and hide and skin processor Grupo Indalo in the far south of the country in mid-February.

In a statement before the event, the owner of the company, Cristóbal López, said the new plant, situated in Gobernador Costa in the province of Chubut, was the result of an investment of around $24 million.

As well as a new abattoir and packing plant for sheep slaughter, an activity that Grupo Indalo is already involved in, the new facility will also have the capacity to slaughter cattle and to process hides and skins.

It will have a daily capacity of 1,000 sheep and 250 head of cattle.
