Visitor numbers up again at Le Cuir A Paris

15/02/2013
Paris-based leather show Le Cuir A Paris reported a 6.5% growth in visitor numbers compared with the February 2012 edition – which was viewed as extremely positive, particularly as the timing of the show clashed with Chinese New Year.

Overall, organisers of the show, which finished yesterday, reported positive feedback, with exhibitors and visitors responding well to the larger, brighter spaces. “This was to help the colour of the leather, and the grain, stand out more,” explained Marc Brunel, Le Cuir’s communications manager.

There were 339 exhibitors at the three-day show – a 22% rise over this time last year – with an increased number of companies representing components and textiles. “We have more and more visitors from the shoe suppliers sector,” added Mr Brunel. Italy represented 57% of exhibitors, 17% were from France and 11% from Spain.

Of the 13,044 visitors, 43% were from France, and of the remainder, the top countries were the UK, Italy, Spain, Germany and the Netherlands. There was a 12% increase in visitors from Russia.

The timing of Chinese New Year meant that Chinese visitor numbers were down by 35% - but organisers were encouraged by a 17% increase from Hong Kong.

The next edition, scheduled for September, will see a change of look and a change of venue. Le Cuir will swap places with accessories show Modamont and have a new home in Hall 4.
