Dutch specialty chemicals manufacturer Stahl has announced the retirement of Henri Gardère, its technical manager for dyes, after a career of 40 years in the leather industry advising customers and technicians worldwide on leather dyes.

He started his career in the leather industry in 1972 at Francolor, later owned by ICI and subsequently integrated into the Stahl business.

He represented Stahl at Frankfurt-based leather and textile manufacturers’ association TEGEWA and the International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies, and regularly gave lectures at leather conferences.

Miquel Quintana, technical manager of Stahl’s wet-end, products, based in Parets del Vallès, near Barcelona, will take over Mr Gardère’s responsibilities.
