German professor celebrates a life researching leather

Germany’s Forschungsinstitut für Leder und Kunststoffbahnen (FILK) is celebarting the eighty-fifth birthday of its former director Professor Günter Reich.

The institute said on making the announcement that Professor Reich, who was its director until 1992, has dedicated his entire professional life to research aimed at fomenting progress in the production of leather and collagen. Away from FILK, he has worked widely in the industry as a consultant.

“Many of his scientific works are acknowledged as basic literature to this day,” FILK said, “and his nomination this year to receive the Merit Award from the International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies is further appreciation of his lifetime achievement.”
