Chelsea restaurant chooses Andrew Muirhead leather again

Glasgow-based Andrew Muirhead has been selected to supply its high-performance low carbon leather to London restaurant Bluebird Chelsea.

Bluebird Chelsea is a landmark London venue situated on the famous King’s Road. The venue has a restaurant, bar, café and courtyard plus a food store, wine cellar and bakery, and enjoys a loyal following among discerning locals and celebrity diners.

It was Bluebird’s interiors partner, Upholstery Techniques, who selected leather from Andrew Muirhead, part of the Scottish Leather Group. This is the second time Muirhead has supplied leather for the restaurant, having already provided upholstery leather to the venue in 2001 when it first opened.

Scottish Leather Group classifies all its leather as low carbon “low carbon” because the group has been running its own thermal energy plant at its Bridge of Weir wet-end tannery since 2010, taking what was previously waste sent straight to landfill and converting it into energy for heating the recycled water required in the manufacturing process.

Muirhead sales director, Archie Browning, said: “We are well known for furnishing some of the world’s finest aircraft and sports cars, but we also have a very highly regarded range for quality and designer furnishings, and Bluebird Chelsea is an excellent example of the kind of place likely to feature Muirhead leather.”

Jean-Baptiste Requien, general manager, Bluebird Chelsea, added: “We are delighted to be able to use Andrew Muirhead leather once again. The décor in the restaurant has been very important and we feel that using high-quality products, such as Andrew Muirhead leather, has really added to the renowned interior.”
