Made in Mexico makes an impression

Mexican footwear firms exported 24 million pairs in 2012, bringing in revenues of almost $520 million.

Commenting on the figures, the president of Ciceg, the footwear industry association in Guanajuato (the biggest footwear-producing state), Ysmael López García, said the Mexican Shoes label is starting to make an impression on consumers in overseas markets.

Mr López said the design and fashion content Mexican producers have been able to include in recent years has appealed to consumers.
