Loewe backs new Master’s in leathergoods design

Madrid’s Polytechnic University will start teaching a Master’s course in leathergoods design in March, although the course will be delivered much further south, in the town of Ubrique in the province of Cádiz, a place with a long tradition of artisan leathergoods manufacture.

Students will learn about the design of handbags and other articles, as well as about the importance of branding, marketing and communications.

The initiative has the backing of luxury leathergoods brand Loewe, whose design director, Stuart Vevers, will be one of the teachers on the course.
