The leathergoods industry is doing well despite the economic crisis, according to organisers of Paris-based trade fair Le Cuir a Paris, who have confirmed a 21% increase in exhibitor numbers for the February show.

Almost 350 exhibitors have confirmed their attendance at the 24th edition, which will run from February 12 to 14 at the Paris Nord Villepinte exhibition centre.

Among those returning are the Italian companies Limonta, which will present a range of textiles for accessories, Conceria Prante, which specialises in upholstery and leathergoods, and the Ferreri and Onda Verde tanneries, which work in the field of leathergoods and footwear. Srivathsa, from India, which operates in the woven leather sector, has also confirmed its attendance.

Forty newcomers will be attending, including French tannery Gal, which specialises in vegetable tanning for saddlery and leathergoods, and the Dutch tannery Hulshof, which offers biodegradable leather. There will also be eight new exhibitors of soles, heels, ribbons and straps.

The summer 2014 trends will be illustrated at the trends gallery, and the Bespoke by Le Cuir a Paris area is back for the third consecutive edition, showcasing 10 companies that work with leather.

There will also be an exhibition by Esmod Berlin, International University of Art for Fashion, around the theme of ‘The Sculpted Body’. It consists of 15 to 20 works produced by third-year Esmod students with the support of German sponsors exhibiting at Le Cuir a Paris, including Richard Offmans, Weinheimer, Gerecke Leder and Jacobs.
