Thailand: leathergoods imports rise 34%

Reports from Thailand say imports of luxury goods into the country rose rapidly last year, with leathergoods recording an increase of 34%.

In its report to the cabinet, the Customs Department said the total value of leathergoods imported was $337 million for 2012.

Other ‘luxury goods’ also saw big increases, with perfumes and cosmetics rising 17% to reach $445 million, and imports of eyewear increasing 41%.
