Leather exports up in value but down in volume for Pakistan

Pakistan’s leather industry exported leather and leather products with a combined value of $90.1 million during the month of November 2012.

Finished and semi-finished leather contributed $39.6 million to the total, leather goods just less than $42 million and footwear around $8.6 million.

Between July and November 2012, the first five months of the current financial year, Pakistani tanners exported almost 9.2 million square metres of leather, with a value of $182.2 million. Compared to the same months in 2011, these figures represent an increase in value of 3.8% but a decrease in volume of 10.3%.
