Vietnam: Footwear orders down 25%

17/12/2012
Reports from Vietnam suggest footwear exports will have earned $7.5 billion for the country in 2012, and leathergoods exports could total $1 billion.

The Vietnam Leather & Footwear Association said the sector had grown but the numbers of orders that footwear companies had received this year has fallen between 25% and 30%.

Companies have cut costs and increased quality to maintain orders, as margins are squeezed with rising production costs and competition from other low-cost labour countries.
